VIVENCIAL TOURISM IN THE COLCA 3D / 2N
SIBAYO
CABANACONDE
FIRST DAY
AREQUIPA/ CALLALLI/SIBAYO
After having picked the tourists up from the hotel we’ll go towards the northeast of the city of Arequipa where we’ll leave the city passing by the Yura’s factory, then we’ll take the transoceanic highway until we reach the viewpoint of Quiscos in Uyupampa, where we will make a short stop to see the valley of Uyupampa, where the arequipean onion and garlic come from.
Continuing with our trip we’ll arrive at the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca at 4000 m.a.l.s., where we’ll observe the flora and fauna of the place and at the same time take photos of the vicuñas. Continuing we can take the coca tea at the place named Patahuasi, where we will see the different rock formations made by strong winds, rain and weather erosion.
After that we´ll at the Chivay highway division and the long route, which we will take and then arrive at the Colca window, point where the colca valley truly begins. Then we will go through La Pulpera cheese factory, after that we’ll go to the caves of Mollepunku, doing a walk of approximately 30 minutes, there we ‘ll see rock paintings, engraved on the walls of the cave with an antiquity of more than 5000 years. Continuing we will pass through the viewpoint of the enchanted castles that are giant cliffs of volcanic stones in the form of enormous columns or walls created because of the wind, rain and weather, then we’ll arrive to Callalli to see its ceremonial center of Choqueshisha, in this place with three holes of water where you pay before the Holidays to mother earth. The ladies have to pay there for being a feminine place or Paqarina “origin place” in the "ukhu pacha", land below, according to the Andean tradition. After that we will visit its church. Then we’ll go to Sibayo, also called Rumillacta, where the constructions are made of blocks of carved rock, mud and their roofs are made with the ichu or straw (stipa ichu), and in the classic design known as "Spanish checkerboard” there we’ll have a receipt from families.

After a break we’ll start with the daily duties of families such as bringing firewood to cook, also we can go fishing for river trout, agricultural activities, at the same time we’ll practice Quechua with them and we’ll know more about their lifestyle and organization.

SECOND DAY
SIBAYO / CHIVAY / CRUZ DEL CONDOR
Breakfast
We go out from the Sibayo town early in the morning towards the Cruz del Condor, we´ll pass by the town of Chivay, capital of the Colca, and the town of Yanque, there we´ll see the church considered one of the most beautiful in the Colca Valley, at the same time we can take photos with different alpacas, llamas and see the Wititi dance live.
Continuing with the tour we pass by the Achoma viewpoint, place where we´ll see the Valley terracing, after that we´ll pass by the town of Maca, we´ll go the Choquetico viewpoint, from where we´ll be able t osee the hanging tombs and the litomaqueta carved in Stone. Next we’ll visit the Antahuillque and Wayrapunku viewpoints.
In the Cruz del Condor we’ll have a prudential time of one hour and a half to see the flight of the condor and the depth of the Colca canyon.
Ater that we’ll continue with direction to the town of Cabanaconde passing by the Tapay viewpoint, from where we´ll be able to see the depth of the Colca canyon and the little towns of Tapay such as Cosñihua and Malata.
Then we’ll arrive at Cabanaconde, there we’ll stay for a prudential time to see and visit the town, its church and see its traditions. Then we’ll return to Chivay, during the return we’ll make several stops in different viewpoints such as Wayrapunku, to see the end of the valley and the begin of the Colca Canyon, in the viewpoint of Antahuilque, to see all the valley terraces and the mysterious lakes of Antahuilque and in the town of Maca we’ll visit its church dedicated to Saint Ana of Maca, at the same time we will meet the eagle called Juan el bueno, who is over 20 years old. We’ll return to Chivay for lunch.

THIRD DAY
CHIVAY / COPORAQUE / UYO UYO / AREQUIPA
At 07:00 in the morning we leave towards Coporaque, we´ll visit its main square from where we´ll begin a walk to the Ruins of Sant Antonio, we´ll go down to the Oqolle viewpoint where we´ll see the theatre made of terraces with the shape of an amphitheater. Then we’ll arrive at the Sifon bridge where we’ll see the colca´s that were used to recolect grains, meats, and other foods. They had the function of a refrigerator, we’ll see the ruins of Uyo Uyo which is an archaeological complex with 500 years old, is the center of the collagua administration and from there the control of the water was exercised and the agriculture, then we’ll stay there for prudential time after that, we’ll return to Chivay for our third and last lunch of the tour.
We’ll return to the Arequipa city passing by the highest point of our journey, Patapampa, the viewpoint of the volcanoes 4910 m.a.l.s., we’ll see the Sabancaya volcano, the snow-capped mountain Ampato, the Hualca Hualca snow-capped mountain and the entire Chila mountain range, also we’ll see the snow-capped Mismi. Continuing with our return we will pass through the crater of an extinct volcano called Chucura, we´ll arrive to the wetlands of Toccra, there we’ll see alpacas, llamas and at the same time birds like flamingos, wild ducks, guallatas, yanavicos, and other species of birds. After that we’ll return directly to the city of Arequipa arriving between 16:30 – 17:00 hours to the respective hotels.
