PURUÑA
PILLONES WATERFALL AND PURUÑA ROCK FOREST
START: At 06:00 hours
We’ll go with the northeast direction of the city of Arequipa by the road that connects the cities of Arequipa and Puno for a lapse of 1 hour 45 minutes approximately, until arriving at the pillones bridge and continuing until the forest of puruña.
This magical place: "The Forest of Stones of Puruña (Imata) is a strange original rock formation, which is constituted by a set of natural stone columns that take the appearance of a mysterious enchanted and petrified forest. Hundreds of years, simulating different silhouettes that resemble prehistoric animals, monstrous silhouettes, forms of animals, is an abstract art form of nature, which invites to interpret the shapes that the rocks have taken, its originality allows those who visit the forest of stone admire such beauty.
Constituted by a set of stone columns of ignimbrite material that is the product of the sedimentation of currents of the material expelled from the volcano, it’s constituted of ashes, lapilli and blocks, the components are solidified among themselves, it can be called tuphic expulsions of volcanic material of all the sizes, the work done by the erosive forces of nature (rain, wind and sun), make it a fascinating place.
We have the Waterfalls of Pillons, an impressive and beautiful waterfalls in the course of the river when coming into contact with places like this helps us to value what represents for human beings the water, it’s life, but most of all it’s the survival of every living being. So we have to learn to respect and value it and what better to share a few hours with that nature The Earth and the sky, forests and fields, lakes and rivers, are excellent schools that teach us many things that can’t be learned and understood in any another side more than in the trips and in the adventures that we live every day and enjoy the beautiful and beautiful nature and that better places like this are very little touched with the hand of man, the landscape, the plants, the colors of the seasons, the sounds of wild animals (birds)
On the way we are going to be able to see vicuñas, alpacas, llamas and if we’re lucky, to see the Andean fox migratory birds,we also will see the wetlands and at the same time we can make a stop at the viewpoint of the three volcanoes Misti, Chachani, Pichupichu.
